How to Remove Featured Images from Divi Blog Posts
How do I hide the duplicate picture on a post without removing its thumbnail from the blog index? In older Divi layouts, start with the post thumbnail setting. You may already have all the controls you need.
Archive scope: I wrote this for Divi 2.x and 3.x. Check your installed version and template before applying it. A custom post layout may control the image separately.
Change the Post Setting First
Elegant Themes documents separate controls for single-post images and index thumbnails. For a layout using the documented theme option:
- Open Divi's Theme Options in the WordPress dashboard.
- Choose Layout, then Single Post Layout.
- Disable "Place Thumbs on Posts" and save.
- Check an actual post, then check the blog index separately.
Leave the post's featured-image selection alone if you still want its index thumbnail. That selection and a picture inserted into the article are different things.
Don't remove the article's own image just because the theme repeats it. Decide which copy you want displayed, then use the appropriate control.
If the Picture Remains
First confirm which layout rendered the image. A custom template or module may be supplying it instead of the theme option.
If saved changes are hidden by caching, clear the relevant cache using that system's controls. Recheck the same post afterward. Turning off unrelated settings makes it harder to see what changed.
Keep a note of the original setting so you can restore it. Check more than one post if your site uses several templates.
Keep the Repair Small
A repeated picture doesn't establish that the whole website needs replacing. It also gives no reason to hide publication dates or author information.
I support existing WordPress sites, although I now build new sites with a smaller website setup. My platform comparison explains that choice.
Those are separate decisions. Resolve the image problem in the layout you have, then assess other work on its own merits.
