Keep WordPress or Rebuild? Start With the Edits You Need

Your customer needs current information and a usable contact route. A repair to your WordPress site may be enough to provide that.

A working site can be worth keeping

A slow page or stale phone number doesn't settle the question of a rebuild. First find out what's causing the problem.

WordPress performance depends on hosting, configuration, images and other choices. Caching can reduce the work needed to serve a page.

That makes a blanket claim that WordPress is always slow a poor reason to replace your site.

Updates and backups still matter. WordPress maintains its current version for security, and installed themes and plugins also need attention.

If a focused repair gives customers what they need, that's a sensible option to price before starting over.

The editing job changes the answer

Do you need to publish posts regularly or edit pages yourself? An editor may be useful enough to justify its upkeep.

A store or a booking system brings its own requirements. The platform has to support that work, including the person maintaining it.

A business with a few stable service pages has a different job. Its main changes may be hours, photos or contact details.

That's the kind of new website I build with semi-static pages. The pages combine PHP with HTML and CSS, without a WordPress dashboard.

What the simpler build means in practice

Shared configuration keeps repeated business details in one place. Changing a stored phone number can update its uses across the site.

That doesn't give you a page editor. Before choosing this approach, agree on who changes the files and how revisions are handled.

There is still hosting, code and maintenance to manage. Fewer parts don't excuse skipping that responsibility.

What I offer now

Existing WordPress maintenance and repairs are still services I offer. For new website projects, I use the leaner builds described here rather than taking on new WordPress builds.

That is a service choice, not proof that your current platform is wrong. We can look at the actual problem first.

A larger old site needs its own review. This article about rebuilding older pages covers that separate scope.

For a new build, the preview lets you evaluate one important page. The full project and any extra features need a separate quote.

Review the proposed layout on your phone and check the business details. Then decide whether the editing arrangement suits you.

Work out whether a repair is enough

Tell me what's wrong with the present site and who needs to update it. We can start there.
